The ongoing substantial investment at the Guadalajara International Airport is improving the infrastructure for the better.
The changes include a dedicated zone (above photo) for accredited airport taxis, away from the bustle of the general drop-off zone.
Unfortunately, the official taxis are usually in short supply, especially at peak times when flights arrive in rapid succession. This has led to routine waits of 30 to 45 minutes (an hour or more in many reported cases). Uber and other platforms taxis are denied access to the terminal, and can only pick up passengers at some distance from the terminal, away from the eyes of police.
The problem is not new—users have been complaining on social media about the long wait times for over a year—and the airport’s administrators seem to have done nothing to solve the issue. The least they might do, some passengers say, is to install some seating in the now-spacious waiting zone, especially for senior citizens.
