A specialized team of officers from Chapala’s Civil Protection and Firefighters (PCyB) squad have completed basic training in the use of a sophisticated drone that was employed to supervise control of the brush fire that broke out earlier this month in the hills above Brisas de Chapala.
The drone pilots are (left to right) Roberto Martínez Arciniega, Duncan MacLeod, drone expert and trainer Jim Miller, Luis Eduardo González Valencia, Juan Antonio Martínez González and Claudia Lisbeth Solórzano Pulido.
Miller and local community activist Harry Bublin were the principal sponsors of last year’s fundraising campaign to purchase the drone for the PCyB unit, as required for use in forest fire detection and search and rescue operations.
