Lakeside cinema fans are perplexed by the sudden closing of the MovieSpace multiplex at Centro Laguna on Thursday, July 27, just days after the release of this summer’s top box office hits “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer” and “Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One.”
A large banner strung up at the entry gates bears an announcement that the theater is temporarily closed for remodeling. However, there is speculation of a different back story since several other Centro Laguna businesses have similarly closed shop without forewarning over recent weeks.
First, the Tomahawk Steakhouse pulled up stakes next door to MovieSpace in early June, relocating to a new locale on the Libramiento bypass.
The Ajijic Wheels Car Wash also suddenly vanished from the north end of the mall’s parking lot at the end of last month. The outfit is now regrouping a new facility at the corner of Calle San Lucas in Riberas del Pilar.
So what is really happening at Centro Laguna these days?
