The Chapala municipal government has announced that plans to build a new health-care facility operated by the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) are officially moving forward. Senior IMSS officials in Jalisco and Mexico City recently notified City Hall that they have accepted the donation of municipal land approved by the City Council.
The donated property covers approximately 6,700 square meters and is located at the north end of the municipal seat, between Calles Chacaltita, Isla del Presidio, and Los Maestros, directly across from the Soriana supermarket. The site is currently occupied by the Rastro Municipal (slaughterhouse) and the Comisaría de Seguridad Pública (municipal police headquarters).
