The Lake Chapala Crime website is back on-line after a four month hiatus.

The men and women of Chapala’s municipal police force are becoming mentally equipped to better serve the public through specialized training courses programmed during their off-duty hours.

A four-year-old girl drowned Friday, July 26 as she played at the edge of Lake Chapala with several other youngsters while her father was fishing out in the water.

Atotonilquillo, Chapala’s most distant satellite community, is winding up to celebrate the 20th annual edition of Expo Membrillo, a colorful country-style fair set for August 10 and 11 that revolves around the town’s main fruit crop, the quince. 

Embarking on a marathon working tour in the Lake Chapala region last week, Jalisco Human Rights Commission president Felipe de Jesus Alvarez Cibrian addressed local issues revolving around indigenous cultures, clean water and public security.

Ajijic artist Javier Zaragoza has temporarily closed shop at his local gallery to dedicate his time and talent to restoring the giant mural he painted on the southern façade of the town’s Delegacion office building back in 2008.
