Chapala traffic cops not targeting expats, Semov officials insist

Expat motorists who get pulled over by traffic police on the outskirts of Chapala, Ajijic and Jocotepec are not being targeted because they look like foreigners, but rather due to the detection of flagrant violations of Jalisco transit laws, according to staff at the regional office of the state’s Secretaria de Movilidad (Semov).

Cops nab suspects involved in political brawl

Four men identified as suspects in a violent attack on campaign supporters of Movimiento Ciudadano candidate Moises Anaya more than two months ago in Chapala were captured last week, according to a press release divulged by the Jalisco Attorney General (FGE).

Abuse case teacher rearrested

Ana Guadalupe “N”, the teacher accused of molesting her kindergarten pupils in San Nicolas de Ibarra, was arrested on new charges Thursday, July 26, only minutes after being released on probation to serve out a suspended four-year sentence on three counts of aggravated sexual abuse.
