Mexico goes to the polls Sunday

Voters go to the polls Sunday, June 7 in local and midterm national elections amid tight security following protests this week organized by radical teachers and other citizen groups that led to the burning and blockading of National Electoral Institute (INE) offices in the states of Oaxaca, Veracruz and Guerrero.

Maestros decry miserly salaries on Teachers Day

Around 200 teachers and sympathizers took to the streets to protest working conditions and pay on National Teachers Day. Demonstrators marched down Avenida 16 de Septiembre in Guadalajara and gathered in the Plaza de Armas to hold a demonstration class to secondary school students.
