Semana Santa: A time to reflect, relax and rejoice

Sunday, April 13, one of Mexico’s most charming religious observations, Domingo de Ramos (Palm Sunday), offers folk artisans an opportunity to demonstrate their skills at fashioning intricate palm-frond designs commemorating Christ’s entry into Jerusalem more than 2,000 years ago.

A few blocks from the downtown core in the Nueva Esquinas zone you will find the annual Feria de Pitaya, where dozens of vendors will be hawking this cactus-type fruit.

Magic in the skies above Sayula

The Sayula Baloon Festival (Festival del Globo) will take place in this Jalisco “Magic Town” on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19. Last year’s inaugural edition featured balloon rides, live music, food and drink vendors, and camping areas.
