Since June 2013, 38 foreigners – most of them middle-aged males from the United States – convicted in their home countries of sexual crimes against minors have been refused entry into Mexico by immigration staff working at the Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta airports.

Hampered by strong winds, some 150 firefighters this week successfully battled two fires in the Cerro del Tepopote, an extension of the Parque Metropolitano in Zapopan.

Jalisco-Quebec accord

Jalisco and the Canadian province of Quebec have signed a student mobility agreement that will help young adults achieve their professional and personal development goals in an international context.

Less than 20 percent of the 3,000 patients awaiting a kidney transplant in Jalisco will undergo the procedure in the next 12 months.  Many of those needing transplants are destined to die because of the shortage of kidneys.

U.S. couple hit by Vallarta bus

A couple in their 80s from Arizona are recovering at a hospital in Puerto Vallarta after being run over by a bus there on Wednesday.

Authorities have no proof that organized criminals in Jalisco are involved in the kidnapping of children to harvest their organs, Attorney General Luis Carlos Najera said this week.
