Monica Cardenas is a photographer’s photographer. In the medium for 28 years, 25 of those professionally, she has worked with and published the work of hundreds of fellow photographers from around Mexico and the world.
From 2000 to 2016 she ran a gallery, workshop and editorial house in Guadalajara, and in 2003 began publishing an agenda that featured images by Mexico’s top photographers.
That agenda was a big seller in Office Depot both here and in the United States, until iPhone offered a digital agenda and sales plunged in 2013.
Cardenas also worked with Guadalajara based Editorial Rendija, which published a collective edition of Mexican photography, Mira, on its 10th anniversary.
She also collaborated on the Libro de Artista Lía, an anthology of artists’ books (presentations) covering work from 2012 to 2015.
