Richard Ross Mitchell
Longtime lakeside resident Ross Mitchell passed away suddenly on July 7.
Born August 20, 1943 in Capreol, Ontario, Canada, Ross left school early and worked in a grocery store, where he learned the butcher’s trade, an ability he loved and practiced throughout his life.
In 1976, he returned to his studies, obtaining a bachelor of arts degree in advanced mathematics and calculus from York University.
Ross worked for Dominion Stores and Loblaw Companies Ltd, where he became vice president of national brands until his retirement in 1992.
He attained his pilot’s license, flying his plane throughout North America.
He also enjoyed curling and other outdoor sports.
Ross and his wife Janet moved to Mexico in 1999. Here, he became a life master in bridge, was a member of the Atlas Golf Club, president of the local fishing club and president of the Chula Vista fraccionamiento (residents’ association).
He leaves behind Janet, his wife of 39 years; son Allan, and his wife Chantal; and three grandchildren Dylan, Jenna and Ryder. A celebration of life will be held on September 7.
