Quebec Ballet
Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, Quebec’s first professional ballet company, presents a contemporary ballet adaptation of Carmina Burana, choreographed by Edward Clug. Top-class jazz
Multi-instrumentalist Luther S. Allison (piano, drums) brings his quartet to Guadalajara as part of the NY Jazz All-Stars series. Over the past 18 months, Allison won his first Grammy (for his work with jazz vocalist Samara Joy), acted and performed music for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s film “The Bride,” toured nationally with singer Ekep Nkwelle, performed at the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival with bassist Endea Owens, and received a fellowship at the Jazz Museum’s Jazz Is: Now! program. Noted The New York Times in July: “It all happened so quickly, he hasn’t even had time to hire a manager.”

Chamber Orchestra
The Higinio Ruvalcaba Chamber Orchestra of the Universidad de Guadalajara presents a recital before their performance at the 52nd Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato. The program includes pieces by Antonín Dvořák, Edward Elgar, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Sitar & Cello
The world-renowned Indo-Dutch duo Pandit Shubhendra Rao (sitar) and Saskia Rao-de Haas (Indian cello) perform live. Shubhendra Rao is an acclaimed performer, composer, and educator, while Rao-de Haas is recognized as a master of Indian classical music and creator of the Indian cello. The New York Times described their music as “movingly meditative,” and Gateway magazine hailed the duo for “bringing Indian music into a new era.”
