Guadalajara continues to boast an increasing number of cozy spots where great jazz thrives. One such venue gaining growing acclaim is Cafetal 97 in Colonia Americana—a laid-back night bar, restaurant and gallery that blends live music performances with art exhibitions, food and drinks.
Throughout October, except for two evenings, you can enjoy jazz, blues, soul and country rhythms performed by talented local musicians. The best part? You can reserve your table online. Cover charges range from 150 to 330 pesos per person, depending on the seating zone. This month offers a lineup of exciting gigs, starting with a Big Band Night on Tuesday, October 7; Country & Bluegrass on Wednesday, October 8; a tribute to Amy Winehouse on Thursday, October 9; and a Blues and Classic Rock & Roll evening on Friday, October 10.
Other highlights this month include a tribute to The Beatles on October 13; a tribute to John Coltrane by the Klaus Mayer Jazz Quartet on October 14; a tribute to Sade on October 22; a special Frank Sinatra salute with singer Rodrigo Guevara and all 16 members of the Klaus Mayer Big Band on October 28; and a tribute to Miles Davis on October 30.
All shows start at 8:30 p.m., but the venue is open for food and drinks all day. Breakfast is served seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cafetal 97 offers a full dinner menu with a variety of Italian-Argentine dishes, including select cuts of meat, pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, appetizers, and desserts. The bar features a selection of wines, beers, and cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic options. The artwork displayed at the venue—paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs—is for sale.
