Exhibits
• Sylvia Sanabria opens her Ludica Nostalgia painting exhibition with a cocktail Saturday, March 8, 6 p.m. at the Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia in Chapala.
• Reyna Galindo has been working tirelessly on a collection of oil paintings for her first solo exhibition, opening at the Centro Cultural Ajijic Sunday, March 9, at 3 p.m. Surrounded by art since childhood, Galindo put her dream of becoming an artist on hold for many years after becoming a mother. “Now, her time has come,” says her husband, artist Efren Gonzalez.
• The Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild will hold a group exhibition at Sol y Luna (Rio Bravo 10 in West Ajijic) from Friday, March 14, with an opening reception from 3 to 6 p.m. Wine and agua fresca will be served. Meet the artists, socialize, and see some amazing art. The exhibition will be displayed until Monday, May 5. Admission is free.
• A collection of works by gifted lakeside artist Judy Miller is up in a one-woman show at the Ajijic Museo de Arte continuing through March 14
• A spectacular exhibition showcasing the work of Ajijic’s youth is up at the Open Air Gallery (GALA), located in the garden area surrounding the town’s main plaza. The exhibition features ten talented members of the Lake Chapala Society Photo Club, all between the ages of 12 and 16. Inspired by their teacher Alicia Knox, they have created a series of six images that tell a personal story from their lives. These moving photographs will remain on display for several months.
Events
• The Lake Chapala Society hosts Art in the Garden, Saturday, March 8 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some 70 artists and craftspeople sell their creations.
• The Centro Cultural Ajijic will hold an exhibition celebrating the life of Ajijic benefactor Neill James on Saturday, March 8, in support of International Women’s Day 2025. The March 8 event is organized in coordination with the Seminario Cultural Mexicano and the Lake Chapala Society. This exhibition on the life of Neill James is hosted by Dr. Pilar Herrera of the University of Guadalajara and Claudia Miramontes of the Centro Cultural Ajijic, and will take place in the second-floor exhibition area of the center from 1 to 4 p.m.
• The Artists of Lake Chapala will hold an Art Market, Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Garden of Dreams Hotel, Constitucion 105, Ajijic.

Opera
Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) hosts screenings of the New York Metropolitan Opera’s production of the iconic Italian opera “Aida”—the fifth such production in LLT’s nine-opera season—March 8, 9 and 10.
This production of Aida was filmed live at New York’s Metropolitan Opera, and will be shown with Lakeside Little Theatre with English subtitles. All shows begin at 4 p.m. Tickets, 350 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com and before the shows at the box office. Anyone showing a Mexican INE at the box office will receive a 100-peso discount.
