‘Grand Horizons’ ends LLT season on high note

“Grand Horizons,” written by Beth Wohl and directed by Suki O’Brien, is the perfect play for Lakeside. The action centers around a couple in their late 70s who have just moved into a unit in a retirement community. When Nancy (Diana Rowland) tells Bill (Maloy Murdock) that she wants a divorce after 50 years of marriage, a hilarious and poignant family drama erupts.

The actors in the two lead roles are stellar. They have fabulous chemistry and their ability to create comedy, together and separately, is immensely enjoyable. Bill is a grumpy old man who is enlivening his later years with stand-up comedy classes (and perhaps some other less wholesome pursuits). Nancy has long played the role of wife and mother, sacrificing her own needs for too long, and she is ready for a change.
