The Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce has unveiled the program for the 2025 Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi y la Charrería, set to run from August 27 through September 7, featuring dozens of lively musical events designed to draw public interest.
Ajijic is included on the lineup for one of the free concerts scheduled in Pueblos Mágicos across the state.
The 32nd edition of the mariachi festival will also feature a national charro championship on Saturday, September 6, at the Lienzo Charro Nito Aceves arena near La Calera, on the lakeshore. Three rounds of horsemanship competitions will be held consecutively at 11:30 a.m., 3 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
Other highlights of the Encuentro include Gala Concerts featuring top mariachi bands at the Teatro Degollado on August 29 and 30, and September 3, 4, 5, and 6, all beginning at 8 p.m. The festival will kick off with the Concierto Magno on August 27 at 9 p.m. at Auditorio Telmex, featuring Mariachi Internacional CHG, the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco, and Pandora y Flans. The Ajijic concert is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Centro de la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera in La Floresta.
Other Pueblo Mágico concerts will take place between August 29 and September 7 in Lagos de Moreno, Tlaquepaque, Cocula, Sayula, Tapalpa, San Sebastián del Oeste, Mascota, Talpa de Allende, Mazamitla, and Tequila.
The final of the third annual Voz del Encuentro contest for best mariachi vocalist will be held on August 9 at 6 p.m. at Plaza Patria.
Another cherished element of the festival will be the traditional Misa Cantada services, celebrated on August 31 at the Catedral de Guadalajara and on September 7 at the Basílica de Zapopan. Both Masses will begin at noon.
Mariachi bands from Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Spain, and the United States will join Mexican groups for a series of workshops and public performances throughout the festival.
