Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based comedian Ophira Eisenberg, hailed by New York Magazine as “one of the top ten comics funny people find funny,” is bringing her sharp wit and acclaimed storytelling to Ajijic’s The BRAVO! for three shows this month.
Known for her appearances on The Late Late Show, The Today Show, HBO’s Girls, and Comedy Central, Eisenberg has long balanced stand-up with a wide-ranging creative career. She spent nine years hosting NPR’s Ask Me Another, is a regular voice on The Moth Radio Hour, and currently hosts the comedy-and-parenting podcast Parenting Is a Joke. Her 2013 memoir, Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy, was optioned for television, and her 2023 one-woman show, Leaving A Mark: A Comedy About Scars, became a New York Times Critic’s Pick during its sold-out off-Broadway run.
Despite living in one of the world’s most frenetic cities, Eisenberg says she thrives performing in communities of all sizes, including intimate towns like Ajijic.
“I think it’s going to feel fantastic!” she says. “Even though I live in New York and perform in big cities, I also travel all over and have performed in small communities, towns, hamlets, you name it. They all have their merits.”
