Bravo Theatre
The Bravo Theatre is ready for the presentation of “Address Unknown” by Katherine Kressman Taylor – the company’s first show in its new location at Hidalgo 441 (just west of Have Hammers and S&S Auto).
Roger Larson and Ken Yakiwchuk star in this staged reading of a stunningly dramatic correspondence between two friends. Set in 1932, the play manages to give a relevant and uncannily current theme the twisty excitement of a thriller with a gasp-worthy ending.

Foto Septiembre
The 10th anniversary showing of Foto Septiembre Ajijic will be up at the Centro Cultural Ajijic, with an inauguration on Saturday, September 7, 5 to 8 p.m. This traditional event is organized by the Lagogris artists’ collective.
Photographs to be displayed include work by Farid Bak, Edgard Alcazar, Lauro Gutierrez, Antonio Riquelme, Maria Di Paola Blum, Jill Flyer, Hunter Johnson, Ricardo Hinojosa, Cathy Chalvignac, Jaime Barbiery, Jodi Burke, Henne Schoemaker, Rocio Lojero, Rebecca Ford, David Lorenz, Winston, Conrado III and Xill “Xulia” Fessenden.
Fotoseptiembre began in 1993 under the coordination of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta) in Mexico City, and has had some 3,000 expositions in the last ten years throughout the country.
The photographs will be on display through September 17.
Talent Show auditions
The School for Special Children is looking for contestants to participate in talent shows to be held at the Spotlight Club during the next high season.
Auditions will be held Sunday, September 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spotlight Club. Participants must supply a resume, recent photo and any music, props or other things needed for their performance. All ages and nationalities are welcome to apply.
Two shows per month, each featuring six contestants, will be held November through January. The six top contestants will vie for a 25,000-peso prize at the final talent show to be held at the Auditorio de la Ribera in February. Lake Chapala Society (LCS) members can take advantage of Film Aficionados screenings each Thursday, 2 p.m.

LLT auditions
The Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will hold auditions for two one-act comedies to be performed December 6 to 13. They are “The Real Inspector Hound” by Tom Stoppard and “After Magritte” (Samuel French Ltd.) Both plays are directed by Randy Warren. In “The Real Inspector Hound,” feuding theater critics Moon and Birdboot – the first a fusty philanderer and the second a pompous and vindictive second stringer – are swept into the whodunit they are viewing. In the hilarious spoof of Agatha Christie-like melodramas that follows, the body under the sofa proves to be the missing first-string critic. As mists rise about isolated Muldoon Manor, Moon and Birdfoot become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman.
In “After Margritte,” Harris, his mother and his wife are a kooky trio. Enter the forceful inspector from Scotland Yard with his constable — which is strange, notes the wife, for she had ordered an ambulance. The officers proceed to place the three under arrest. It is not clear why; something about a parked car, a bunch of .22 caliber shells in the wastebasket, and a robbery of the box office of a minstrel show. But Harris has an explanation: he had parked near an art gallery to let his mother see some paintings by Magritte in which her obsessional instrument, the tuba, figured grandly. But then it develops that there was no minstrel show at all, and the plot goes haywire.
Spotlight Club
US are bringing two of their top shows to the Spotlight Club. Friday, September 13, at their Best of Cabaret Show enjoy your favorite songs from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Saturday, September 14, they perform the best dancing tunes from those same decades. Both shows are at 7 p.m. Cost is 350 pesos.
Friday, October 4, Aunt and Uncle Jazz presents a dinner-show featuring jazz, bolero and bossanova. Cost is 300 pesos for the show only, 500 pesos including dinner.

ABBA fever
Janelle’s Garden restaurant is getting ABBA fever. “Mama Mia, Here We Go Again” is a dinner-theater production of songs interpreted by Abby y Rocia, Wednesday, September 18 and Thursday, September 19, 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets for this dinner show are 350 pesos, available at Diane Pearl, Mia’s Boutique and Janelle’s Garden.
