Exhibit and workshops

“Borregones,” an exhibit of ten cardboard artists and workshops of cardboard art from exponents from Jalisco and around the country, will take place on the plaza in San Antonio Tlayacapan Friday to Sunday, January 14 to 16, 5 to 9:30 p.m. (Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Live music on Friday and Saturday, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, at 2:10 p.m. and 2:40 p.m.

Art on the Costalegre

Ajijic artist Efren Gonzalez will show his art at Galeria La Manzanilla, beginning with a meet the artist reception Friday, January 14, 4-7 p.m. The gallery is at Calle Perula 83 in La Manzanilla, Jalisco. Information: artinmexico.com

“Silent Sky” is the next production of the Lakeside Little Theatre, opening Friday, January 14, and running through January 23. The play by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Suki O’Brien, casts Debra Bowers, Lynn Gutstadt, Randy Warren, Kathleen Morris and Donna Burroughs.

“Everything changes in this moment.” This is the startling and entertaining true story of early 1900s astronomer Henrietta Leavitt.

Evenings shows are at 7:30 p.m.; matinees on Saturday and Sunday are at 4 p.m.

Tickets, 300 pesos, are available online at lakesidelittletheatre.com, or at the LCS box office one hour before curtain, and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon, during the week of the show.

Patrons must wear masks properly at all times in the lobby and auditorium.

ASA garden show

The Ajijic Society of the Arts will hold its first 2022 garden show at the Lake Chapala Society, Saturday, January 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet the artists and browse through paintings, handicrafts, jewelry, mosaics, glass art, masks, collectibles, ceramics, T-shirts and more.

Classical guitar

Eddie Lara gives a classical guitar concert at La Cochera Cultural, Saturday, January 15, 5 p.m. Music will be by Erik Satie, Manuel Ponce, Joaquin Rodrigo, Manuel de Falla, Philip Rosheger and Lara’s own compositions.

Concerts in the Park

The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Concerts in the Park series presents Maru Prado Conti giving a one-concert tribute to Lady Gaga, Sunday, January 16, 6 p.m.,

Dwight Bake offers a Motown tribute Sunday, January 23, with concerts at 2:30 and 5 p.m.; and Debby Holiday interprets Tina Turner in two performances Sunday, February 13, at 2:30 and 5 p.m.

In accordance with new Jalisco Covid protocols, a proof of vaccination certificate or a PCR test with negative results within the last 48 hours must be presented to attend the concerts. Tickets are available at the LCS office or via the LCS website.

Rod Stewart Revue

The Rod Stewart Revue featuring Luis Ponce Valencia at Manix Restaurant is on Wednesday, January 19, starting at 6 p.m., and Thursday, January 20, starting at 7 p.m.

You will swear you are hearing Rod Stewart, and you can hum, sing and dance if you wish.

Tickets, 450 pesos, include a meal, tips and entertainment. Drinks are not included. There is parking available across from Manix.

Festival de La Michi

Cochera Cultural is presenting the story of Michi-Cihualli in both a short film, “The Legend of Michi-Cihualli,” and a documentary, “Encountering the story of Michi-Cihalli,” Thursday, January 20, including a discussion panel with participants of the documentary and an inauguration by the Michi-Cihualli collective, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Friday, January 21, attend a presentation of contemporary dance, video art and live music based on “Inhabiting la Michi-Cihualli,” a fundraiser for the Food Bank of Janacatlan, Jalisco. Tickets are 350 pesos.

On Saturday, a discussion panel on film and its connection to the current environment in Ajijic begins 5:30 p.m. Another screening of both the film and the documentary with live music will be at 7:30 p.m.

There is limited capacity for all these events, and Covid protocols will be in place.

Men singers needed

Los Cantantes del Lago is holding auditions for two bass and two tenor openings for their Spring 2022 concert. The season’s rehearsals begin January 25 and are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at BRAVO! Bare Theatre

Bare Stage Theatre’s next performance, January 28 to 30, is “The Gossip of Goderich” by Kevin Riordan.

This romantic comedy centers on an older couple coming to terms with their aging marriage, along with a couple of side romances. It’s a laugh a minute. The small-town gossiping brings home the fun and the craziness of life in a small town.

“The Lehman Trilogy,” a production of National Theatre of Ben Power’s English version of Stefano Massini’s vast and poetic play, will be screened at LLT’s Playhouse January 29 and 30, 4 p.m. Sam Mendes directs Simon Russell Beal, Adam Godley and Ben Miles in this story of a family and company that changed the world, told in three parts on a single evening.
