Poets performing at the Joco Loco May Cultural Festival Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, include Mario Z. Puglisi, Judy Dykstra-Brown, Oskar Santoskly and Margaret Van Every.

Artist Deborah Kruger addresses pressing concerns about declining Mexican bird populations and the loss of indigenous languages across the country in the exhibit “Avianto,” Saturday, May 14, noon at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo in Chapala. Photography enthusiasts

Lakeside Shutterbugs, a group for all photography enthusiasts, has scheduled its May excursion for Friday, May 20. Explore the dry, dusty saltbeds of Laguna de Sayula for a morning shoot.

LLT audition

Lakeside Little Theatre holds auditions for “Art Match” by Stephen Belber Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20, at LLT on the terrace. Directed by Lynn Gutstadt, “Art Match” show dates are June 17, 18 and 19.

The play is a portrait of Tobi Powell, a charming, garrulous and profoundly sad and aging dancer, choreographer and teacher, who enjoys knitting.

The director is looking for one woman and two men, plus a narrator (either gender).

Bare Stage audition

Leonard Cohen review

James Twyman performs Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah Musical” at four concerts, May 27 and 28 and June 3 and 4, 7 p.m., at Namaste Village at Angel Flores 5 in Ajijic. Before the show, the community will unveil a recently completed two-story Aztec mural.
