LCS Concerts in the Park
Sunday, September 18, Roy Gomez will present a tribute to Freddie Mercury, plus Daniel Celis singing Elton John compositions, with shows at 3 and 6 p.m. Strong attributes of this duo are the use of live vocals, their ability to become the performer and their passion for what they do. They sing their favorites from each legend and collaborate on some amazing duets. This will be the first time this show has been performed, as they prepare for future collaborations in Puerto Vallarta and across Mexico.
Tickets for both shows: VIP seating, 500 pesos; general seating, 350 pesos, available on the LCS website or at the LCS office.
Bare Stage Theatre
Bare Stage Theatre’s next production is “Weekend Comedy.” When a couple in their mid-fifties and a couple in their mid-twenties discover that they’ve accidentally rented the same cottage for a three-day weekend, they decide to share it. The older couple is married, the younger couple is not. The audience becomes a voyeur to the comedic clash between generations and ideas. The show is a reminder that growing older doesn’t mean we must get set in our ways, take each other for granted or forget to stop and smell the roses while we still can.
Playwrights Sam and Jeanne Bobrick have co-authored over 40 plays, including “Norman, Is That You?,” “Murder at the Howard Johnsons” and “Wally’s Café,” as well as penned TV hits such as “The Andy Griffith Show,” “Gomer Pyle USMC” and “The Flintstones.”
Roseann Wilshere directs Rosann Balbontin, Jon DeYoung, Douglas Pinkerton and Florette Schnelle.
Lakeside Little Theatre presents “The Revolutionists,” a comedy by Lauren Gunderson September 30 to October 9.
“Sometimes a revolution needs a woman’s touch.” Four passionate badass women strive to find Liberte Egalite Sororite. A brutal, comedic quartet about very real women who lived boldly in France during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror.
“A sassy, hold-on-to-your-seats theatrical adventure …wonderfully wild and raucous,” said the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Russell Mack directs Lynn Gutstadt, Kathleen Morris, Louise Ritchie and Patteye Simpson.
Sally Jo Bartlett is the stage manager.
Weekday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday shows are at 4 p.m. Tickets, 350 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com.
