Bare Stage Theater
A university dean, a corrections officer and a disgraced former athlete walk into a retirement home … and into the Bare Stage August 23-25 production of “Doris and Ivy in the Home” by Norm Foster.
Three unlikely companions embark on a journey through illness, relationships, perhaps even some romance, and the occasional snoop on another senior couple’s romantic tryst. Doris is a former corrections officer with a tough exterior, Ivy is a former skier who fled to Canada after a career-ending accident, and Arthur, who used to be a dean, sees himself as a teacher. Arthur has eyes only for Ivy, but Ivy, after three failed marriages, is afraid to fall in love again. After much meddling and the occasional heart-to-heart, the three become inseparable as they settle into their new lives.
Kathleen Morris directs the cast: Barbara Harkness, Mark Heaton, and Marsha Heaton. Show dates are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 23-25. All shows are at 4 p.m. Tickets are 200 pesos.
