Ribera Arts Review - November 1, 2025

LLT

Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) opens the second production of its 61st season, “The Tin Woman,” on Friday, November 7. The play is based on the true story of a young woman who unexpectedly needs a heart transplant. Afterward, she decides to contact the donor’s family.

“The Tin Woman” runs from November 7 to 16, with matinees on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays at 4 p.m. and evening shows at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets, 400 pesos, are available at lakesidelittletheatre.com and at the box office before the shows.

 

Bare Stage

The women of the Morning Glory Baking Circle for Revolutionary Self-defense, trying to do their part to stop fascism while staying under the government’s radar, is the basis for “Recipe” at The BRAVO! Theatre.

Suki O’Brien and Randy Warren direct Marsha Heaton, Sharon Jarvis, Louise Reid Ritchie, Roberta Rubin and Marcy Weiland. Show dates are October 31 to November 2 and November 7 to 9. The Friday, October 31 performance begins at 7:30 p.m.; all other performances begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are 350 pesos.

 

Exhibits

• La Cochera Cultural presents a Dia de Muertos exposition Saturday, November 1, 5:30 p.m. Displaying their art will be both local and Tapatio artists: Rocia Vera, Abril Duran, Miguel Angel Lopez, Menaze Miguel Mendez, Edgardo Josefat Badial, Chava Rodriguez Vazquez, Gabriel Mariscal, Alfredo Langarica, Filipe 7 and Gonzalo Espinoza. Lola la Tequilera will perform.

• The Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild (LCFAG) opens a group exhibition at La Estación Restaurant (Hidalgo 75, Riberas del Pilar, above Pancho’s East) on Friday, November 7, with an opening reception from 3 to 6 p.m.

Enjoy live music, wine and agua fresca. Meet the artists, socialize, and immerse yourself in an inspiring collection of fine art.

As part of a commitment to the community, the Guild supports the Efrén González Children’s Art Program. During the reception, you’ll find art cards and original works by these talented young art students available for purchase.

Art shows

The Artists of Lake Chapala invite you to their Artisan (original art only) Art Show on the third Saturday of every month (November 15), 10-3 p.m., at their new, beautiful and exciting location: the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera, located on the Carretera in La Floresta.  Taco, drink, and coffee bars. Free entrance.

FRIDAY

• Los Pretty Boys will play at the Iron Horse Halloween party, 7 p.m.

• Blackwater Rock n’ Blues Band plays a Halloween concert including a costume contest, 5 to 7 p.m. at El Patio Restaurant.

• Frad and Fer will perform at American Legion Post 7 in Chapala. Three prizes will be given out for Halloween costumes. Cover: 200 pesos.

SATURDAY

• Old Souls performs at 3:30 p.m. at La Fiesta Restaurant in West Ajijic. There will be costumes, cocktails and a birthday bash.

SUNDAY

• The Lanz Band plays at 6 p.m. at Scallion Ajijic Bistro. Prizes for best-dressed Catrina and Catrin. Reservations: 376-766-2301.

COMING SOON

• A Bill Sheehan memorial open mic will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 5 p.m. at La Bodega Ajijic. Bring a song to sing, play with the band or share a favorite memory of Bill.

• A tribute to Nina Simone by the Live Jazz Quartet will be on Thursday, November 6, 6 p.m. at the Cola de Gallo, Hidalgo 17 in Ajijic. Musicians are Sofia Ramirez, Arne Wernink, Carlos Torres and Miguel Soto. Reservations: 331-190-8896. The cover is 200 pesos.

Improvisation Class

Jill Flyer begins her next improv class, Saturday, November 8, at the Centro Cultural Ajijic on the Ajijic plaza. Flyer has an extensive background in improvisation and has developed simple, uncomplicated methods of teaching improv so that everyone can do well. You don’t have to be funny or witty or have a theater background. Just be yourself, have fun and make new friends.
