Art shows
• The Lake Chapala Society holds Art in the Garden Show, Saturday, February 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with over 50 vendors offering a multitude of art, food, beauty aids, crafts and much more.
• The Artists of Lake Chapala invite you every third Saturday (February 21) to their Artisan (original art only) Art Show, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR) located on the Carretera in La Floresta. Dozens of local artists show and sell their work. Tacos, drinks, and a coffee bar, too. Free entrance.
Exhibits
• The Lake Chapala Fine Artists Guild will hold a group exhibition at the Ajijic Cultural Center, wth an opening reception on Saturday, February 28, from 4 to 6 p.m., featuring live music and refreshments. Art cards and original artwork by the young students of the Efrén González Children’s Art Program will be for sale. The show runs until March 17.
• The Museo El Hospitalito, Calle Cardinal Sur 66 in San Juan Cosala, is hosting an exhibition of oil paintings by Efren Gonzalez.
• The Centro Cultural Ajijic hosts a dual exhibition, with the ground floor featuring a collective show of works by expat and local artists, including alumni of the Neill James Children’s Art Program. Meanwhile, the second floor is showing “Sincretismo Mágico,” a solo exhibition of works by Jesús V. López Vega.
• A retrospective exhibit of the 50 years of work by artist Pat Apt is up at the Ajijic Museo de Arte, Privada Flores Magon 3, in West Ajijic.

• The Kumbia Kings take the stage at the Chapala Carnaval fairgrounds at Parque La Cristiania, Monday, February 16, 8 p.m. This Mexican-American band from Corpus Christi, Texas, plays cumbia, hip hop and R&B in both English and Spanish.
• New Jazz Classics, featuring Arne Wernink on trumpet, Sofia Ramirez on piano, Freddy Adrian on double bass and Miguel Soto on drums, performs at Cola de Gallo, Hidalgo 17, Ajijic, Wednesday, February 18. Reservations: 331-190-8896.
Northern Lights Festival
The Northern Lights Music Festival runs from Sunday, February 15, through Saturday, February 28, bringing more than 30 international musicians to Ajijic for two packed weeks of performances. Tickets for the Festival Series performances at the Auditorio de la Ribera remain available at La Nueva Posada Hotel on weekday afternoons.

• BRAVO! Theatre presents “The Dark Lady” by Jessica B. Hill, Friday, February 13, 7:30 p.m.; and at 4 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, February 15 and 16, and Friday through Sunday, February 20 to 22.
Shakespeare and Bassano collide as they wrestle with artistic collaboration, ambition, envy and love — an entanglement that will profoundly shape both their lives and their work.

• Rotary Club of Ajijic presents “Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre: Grease - 50 Years Later” on Wednesday, February 18, at El Pilar Bistro, Hidalgo 261, Riberas del Pilar. This fully immersive murder mystery is inspired by the iconic world of “Grease,” reimagined decades later. Old rivalries resurface, secrets come out, and someone won’t make it to the final dance.
The program includes entertainment by Black Sapphire Band from 4 to 5 p.m., a cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner is served from 5 to 6:30 p.m., before the play begins.

• Next up at Lakeside Little Theatre is the musical “Something Rotten,” the hilarious Broadway hit about two brothers trying to beat Shakespeare at his own game. Dance Laboratory
