Guadalajara ballet star Isaac Hernandez is working hard to try and bring the English National Ballet on tour to Mexico in 2018.
A big point in favor of Guadalajara during the time between Christmas and New Year is the relative calm here – many locals take off for beach destinations, reducing traffic. And the major cultural institutions listed here remain open, closing only on their normal days and on Christmas and New Year Days, and making this a good season to take in the many museums in town.
Concert in the park
The Orquesta Sinfonica de Zapopan presents a Christmas “picnic” concert in the Parque Metropolitano, the city’s largest park on the western side of the metropolitan area.
Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
To get you into the holiday spirit, “A Magic Christmas,” featuring the voices of tenor Cesar Delgado and baritone Carlos Lopez – two gifted young Jalisco talents – will light up the Degollado for three shows.

Founded in 1951, the Dalian Acrobatic Troupe is one of the most well known acrobatic troupes in China.
FIL concerts
The International Book Fair (FIL) presents free nightly shows in the Foro Expo, in front of the entrance to the Expo Guadalajara, all at 9 p.m. The line-up is a mix of artists from Madrid, this year’s invited guest at FIL, and Mexico.
With a riot of color and sound, the six-week-long cultural extravaganza known as Festival Sucede came to close Saturday, November 18, in Guadalajara’s Plaza Liberacion.
