Canadian and French leaders to visit Mexico

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and French President Emmanuel Macron will both visit Mexico later this month, President Claudia Sheinbaum has confirmed. While dates are not yet finalized, reports suggest Carney may arrive around September 18.

Amid U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump’s policy of punitive tariffs, Sheinbaum and Carney are expected to focus on strengthening supply chains and infrastructure to boost bilateral trade.

Canadian Foreign Secretary Anita Anand recently stated that following high-level talks, Mexico and Canada have agreed to develop a joint work plan covering resilient supply chains, port-to-port trade routes, artificial intelligence and the digital economy, and energy security.
