Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty our faces are free at last!
Pardon me if I’ve borrowed gratuitously on the inspiring words of the late, great Dr. Martin Luther King, but there is an uplifting sense of newly gained freedom that has come about with the recent lifting of Jalisco’s two-year mandate to mask up against the pernicious SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Many lakeside inhabitants seem to take the reversal of the cubrebocas rule as a welcome sign that life out in the public sphere is finally getting back to normal. Lots of local folks actually got a jump on state health authorities, discarding masks weeks ago as they sensed that their relatives, friends and neighbors were no longer falling ill with Covid infections.
