Good trouble

What do a few dedicated Lake Chapala Society volunteers have in common with the late civil rights activist John E. Lewis? It turns out to be the shared belief that that raising “good trouble” can bring about positive changes in favor of the common good.

pg16Challenges concerning the operation of the LCS board of directors came to light in an abbreviated Letter to the Editor published in the March 16 edition of The Guadalajara Reporter, and in an expanded text put out on local social media prior to the organization’s March 19 Annual General Meeting.

Ringleaders of the good trouble movement include LCS webmaster Garry Musgrave, Children’s Arts Program coordinator Danielle Pagé and lifetime members Terry Vidal, the first LCS executive director, and Marianne O’Halloran, keeper of the organization’s historical archives. These people have served LCS for more years than any of its current officers. It stands to reason that their concerns on behalf of the entire membership are legitimate and worthy of attention.
