Wine fest
Fine wines from 24 premier wineries will be showcased at the fifth edition of the Vid Forum festival, Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9 at Chapala’s Club de Yates, located at Paseo Ramón Corona 1, in the waterfront restaurant zone just past the intersection with Avenida La Cristianía.
Book signing
Author/artist Ardelle Holden will be signing her new mystery novel, “Killing Imaginary Friends,” Saturday February 8, at the LCS Art in the Garden event. Also, Friday, February 14 at the Friday Market and Saturday, February 15 at the Artists of Lake Chapala Art Market, at Garden of Dreams Hotel.
Open Circle
Briana Beveridge will present “Sacred Self Writing” at the next Open Circle meeting on Sunday, February 9, 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.
Beveridge is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, Certified Master Yoga Instructor, Mindfulness Speaker, Certified Relationship Coach and Life Coach and most recently Divorce Doula and Coach. She has been practicing Sacred Self writing for 12 years and says she is looking forward to “sharing it with you for your Sacred answers within.”

Vintage Films
Casa Hollywood is showing the 2002 flick “Amelie” Friday, February 14, 7 p.m. at La Mora 24, five blocks from the San Antonio Tlayacapan plaza.

• Chatterley’s Restaurant, Zaragoza 307B in Chapala, has a special menu for lovers: a strawberry margarita, a NY steak cooked with a special house vinaigrette of rosemary and garlic served on a bed of red wine sauce, sauted house potatoes and mushrooms and a special brownie. 570 pesos. • The Sons of the American Legion will hold a dinner and dance party, at the Legion Post 7 Chapala, 4 to 7 p.m. with music by Old Souls Band. The menu is fried corn drizzled with a chipotle butter, filet mignon or salmon over mashed potato puree, and chocolate truffles for dessert. Raffles to benefit the Little Blue School will be held. • Manix II is serving up appetizers and a caprese salad before a choice of petite lobster tails, chateaubriand with bernaise sauce or Manix chicken roll, all served with mashed potatoes, corn soufflé and asparagus and chocolate strawberries for dessert. 600 pesos. • El Charro de Ajijic Restaurant starts off with grilled shrimp with a chile adobo and recado rojo accompanied with pico de gallo and pineapple, then the main course of saffron risotto with grilled octopus and finishes with a chocolate tart with red berries and a touch of crème anglaise and chocolate crumble. 500 pesos. Tequila Blues will headline a fundraiser for Treasure House, a safe house for sexually exploited young girls, at El BarCo, Sky Bar, Thursday, February 20, 3 to 6 p.m. Entrance included two hours of rock and roll, a shot of tequila reposado, pop-up comedy, a 50-50 raffle, a silent auction with restaurant dining certificates, a gift from the girls, and local artist Momo selling personalized art work.
