The United States Consulate joined forces with the Charros de Jalisco baseball club to offer a training clinic to children from a Guadalajara shelter.
The event took place on Monday, February 23 at the Telmex Baseball Stadium in Zapopan. Thirty-two children from the Casa Hogar Nacidos Para Triunfar (Born to Triumph) participated in the session. Coaches from the Charros Baseball Academy led the kids in a warm-up routine, after which they took turns catching and batting.
The event was organized as part of the Leadership Day celebrated by the Consulate each year.
The Charros recently opened a baseball school in which 180 students have enrolled. Although the winter baseball season is now over, the stadium has been a hub of constant activity. The training school, and press and charity events, have been keeping club staff busy.
