Ajijic contractor Marcos Zaragoza (left) shows Mayor Jesus Cabrera his miniature mock-up of the town plaza following a superficial makeover that is set to get under way within the coming week.
The design for the colored stone overlay that will cover the existing surface, created by village artist Federico Enciso, will feature sun and fish motifs representing the town’s natural and historic attributes. The bandstand and green areas will be left intact. The project is funded under a shared-cost federal program, with financial participation of the city government and citizenry. Work is due for completion by the end of February 2012.
