Operation Feed gears up for November clothing drive

Operation Feed is soliciting clothing donations for its next event, scheduled November 7 in San Juan Cosala.

Much-needed items include baby clothes, children’s clothing (especially jackets), blankets, sweaters/jackets and shoes.

New underwear is also in demand (it’s easy to pack in a suitcase and bring back from north-of-the-border). Towels of all sizes, medical devices and health aids would also be useful.  Any old jewelry is a true luxury treat for the ladies, since they would never buy such an item for themselves. Things to be avoided that are not really practical include clothes that must be dry-cleaned, used underwear (for hygiene reasons), and extra extra large clothing.

Operation Feed provides much-needed clothing to the children, adults and elderly in San Juan Cosala. Clothes are contributed by donors all year long and are sorted, catalogued and stored in the St. Louis building,  next door to Viva Mexico Restaurant in San Juan Cosala. Operation Feed families are then invited, ten at a time, to come in and choose clothing.

Families are able to select a designated number of clothing items based on the size of their families and their need. For many of the children, the only new clothing they receive each year is from this program. Unfortunately, Operation Feed cannot accept all families who would like to be in the program due to limited resources.

Sandy Gallagher and Gloria Bryen are co-chairing the November 7 clothing drive. They are happy to answer any questions and can arrange pick-up of your donations.
