BBQ to fund Ajijic improvements

Ajijic town administrator Hector España will host a barbeque dinner and dance party at the village plaza on Saturday, August 10, 5 to 9 p.m., to build up a kitty to fund various improvement projects.

España announced that work on the unfinished plaza renovation project will pick up again next week. Immediate tasks will be to replace the iron railings on the bandstand kiosk and patch up the rough spots of the flooring wrapped around it.

Another project in the works will be resurfacing the center section of Calle Revolucion, the location of the Wednesday tianguis street markets, with cement adoquin pavers that will provide pedestrians with a smooth and safe walking path.

Tickets for the August event, running at 300 pesos a head, are on sale at the Delegacion office opposite the plaza. Persons wishing to contribute to repairs and improvements are welcome to drop cash into a locked donation box to be placed at the kiosk during working hours.  Otherwise, only España and Harry Bublin, head of the expat citizen advisory committee, are authorized to collect on behalf of the Delegacion.
