Corn parade planned for Dia de la Raza

Grassroots environmental activists are organizing a parade in downtown Chapala on Saturday, October 12 to bring attention to the plight of Mexico’s corn.  The rally will head out from the municipal soccer field at the north end of Avenida Madero at 4 p.m., following the main thoroughfare to the waterfront Malecon.

Everyone interested in participating is welcome to join the march, preferably armed with noisemakers, props, costumes and placards inscribed with Save the Corn messages. The event will tie in with Dia de la Raza (Columbus Day) anti-GMO demonstrations to be held on that date throughout Mexico and elsewhere around the planet.
