Everyone welcome at Bridge Club, says new president

The Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club is ushering in a new era with the election of Jimmy Reynolds as president of the new board of directors at the most recent annual general meeting.

Reynolds and his wife, Mary Ann, moved to lakeside permanently last year from the Dallas, Texas area after visiting multiple times. He brings a wealth of bridge knowledge to his new position. A gold life master and a director and bridge instructor at the Arlington Duplicate Bridge Club, Reynolds enjoyed a

30-year-career with AT&T before he retired.

“Without the game of bridge, I would not have travelled to as many places or met many of the people who are now my good friends, including my lovely wife,” Reynolds says. “I want the Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club to be a welcoming place, where people come to have fun and make new friendships, while enjoying this stimulating game. I have benefitted greatly from the knowledge of more experienced players, and I want that opportunity to be available at our Club through lessons and mentoring activities.  Anyone can play, and everyone is welcome. Come for a lesson or come for a game.”

The Lake Chapala Duplicate Bridge Club is open to players of all skill levels and there are currently two sessions per week where bridge instruction is provided. There is a beginners game Friday morning at 9 a.m. with a half-hour lesson before play begins at 9:30 a.m., and there is a supervised play session Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. with hands specifically created to match the lesson of the day, with instructors available to answer questions as you play.

Regular games are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons at 1:15 p.m.

The club is located in Riberas on the Carretera at Hidalgo 79 (between Maskaras Clinic and Mom’s Restaurant). Call 376-108-1086 or visit chapalabridge.com for more information.

The other members of the new board of directors are Julie Davidson, vice president; Mike Roney, club manager; Jeane Treloar,  treasurer; Stephen Segall, secretary; Judy Wells, facilities manager and Frank “Paco” Jordan, director-at-large.
