Weekly Worship - June 17, 2023

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The service for Sunday, June 18 is “The Flower Communion.”

Sunday, June 25, Dave MacMillan will give the sermon “All Our Births & Deaths.”

Rites of passage signal a readiness to pass from one life stage to the next: baptisms, bar mitzvahs, graduations, weddings, preparing for death and finally the ultimate passage into death itself. Rites can also mark other passages: to conceive or to abort a child; to take one job or career or to leave them behind; to make a geographical move; to propose a marriage or a divorce; and many others.

This morning we reflect on some of the approaching passages in our lives and how we might create rites of passage to mark them.

People are encouraged to share with Dave by email some of the passages you have experienced or that you see approaching: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

After serving six congregations, Dave MacMillan is enjoying retirement at the Italo Hotel and enjoying the best days of his life. He has been called to guide a vision fast in China in October.

Lakeside Presbyterian Church

Sunday, June 18, Pastor Carolyn, will talk about “Everything We need, from 2 Peter 1-3.”

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

In many ways, the Apostle Peter seems larger than life. He was so close to Jesus. He did miracles of healing. He was martyred for his faith. The picture we have of him from the New Testament, however, also shows that he is totally human. He’s just like us, doing his best to follow Jesus. Peter’s second epistle is his last word to us. He knows he will die soon and what he writes is what he wants us to remember.

English-language service begins at 9:30 a.m. Spanish service begins 11 a.m. The English service also streams each Sunday at facebook.com/LPCChapala.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Abundant Life Church

What is a better investment, a new car or a house? Most understand that although a car may be a needed mode of transportation it is not an investment as cars tend to depreciate in value over time. Real estate is another thing though. A purchase today will nearly always in the long run turn out as a good investment. In our spiritual lives we need to understand this dynamic as well and stop thinking that temporal which will not pay off for an eternity are smart ways to invest out time, energy and heart. Come Sunday, June 18, as we see Jesus as the only solid thing in all the universe. Investing in Him will never turn out to be a poor decision.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico. English-language services are Sunday, 10:30 a.m. Bible study in English is held at 11 a.m. each.
