Weekly Worship - December 16, 2023

Lakeside Presbyterian Church

Sunday, December 17, Pastor Ted Rogers will talk about “Thawing” (Luke 1:5-25, 1:57-80).

“The Birth of John the Baptist anticipated the coming of Christ. Zecharias and Elizabeth anticipated the birth of John. What is it that we anticipate at this time of years? Presents, feasts? good or difficult times with family? What should we be anticipating, and as such, how should we prepare?

“I ask you all for your prayers for the message this Sunday. Grace and Peace to you all!”

The English language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala.

Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study.

If you need a ride, or more information, call 376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar.

Heritage Baptist Church

Friends, to warn of the dangers of hell, as described by Jesus Christ, His apostles and the Old Testament prophets, is a loving gesture towards the unsaved, in hope that they might be delivered from God’s judgement.

These men spoke of hell because it is real. But what is hell? In Mark 9:48, Jesus clearly describes hell as a place: “[I]t is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

The wicked claim that God is an unkind dictator, but Ezekiel says: “Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live” (18:23)?

Why, then, is there a hell? Because God is righteous, immutable and required by His own justice to cast the wicked into such a place as hell.

Heritage Baptist Church meets upstairs at the Presbyterian Church in Riberas del Pilar Sundays at 11:15 a.m.: Prayer, then the Word at 11:45 a.m. Wednesdays: Bible study at 3 p.m. Info: 333-016-3743, This email address is being protected from spambots. Lake Chapala Baptist Church

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful (Colossians 3:15).

During this Christmas season, we celebrate the gift from god of the Christ child. Being thankful doesn’t come easily for some of us, but God says to cultivate thankfulness. How do you cultivate something? You work at it, you nourish it, and you do whatever it takes to make it thrive. God is good and merciful. The price that Christ paid so that we could be redeemed is given to us by grace. His grace is so amazing and because it covers us, we truly are the luckiest people on the face of the earth!

Our Christmas Program will be held Sunday, December 17, 4 p.m. A soup and dessert meal will follow the program. Please join us.

This time of year, with its increasing darkness and cooler days (at least in the northern hemisphere) plus the numerous holidays, invites us to ponder mystery. What are the deep questions for which we don’t have answers, some for which we may never find answers? What is the nature of not knowing? Are there some questions which we should not ask? We’ll explore a few of these questions as we wade from the comfort of the known toward the mysterious depths of the unknown.

June Wilson will be the service associate.
