Weekly Worship - January 20, 2024

Unitarian UniversalistFellowship

Sunday, January 21, Rev. Tim Boeve will speak on “The Power of Connection.”

Number one New York Times bestselling author Brené Brown writes that “Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” However, the most important and first connection we must make to truly succeed in connecting with others is the one we make with our own selves. Rev. Boeve, a retired Protestant minister, will explore the benefits of making strong connections with others and with ourselves. In today’s world when so many people feel isolated and alone, the ability to make significant connections with others is more important than ever. Our very lives may depend upon it.

Lakeside Presbyterian

Church

Pastor WAYNE will talk this week about: “The Good Shepherd.”

In today’s world, it’s easy to feel lost and alone, like sheep wandering aimlessly. We face challenges and uncertainties that can overwhelm us. But in the midst of this vulnerability, Jesus offers us a comforting image: He is the Good Shepherd.

This is the fourth of our Lord’s “I am” statements in John’s gospel. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leads us to safety, provides for us, and protects us from harm. He knows us intimately and calls us by name. He is the one who laid down his life for us, his sheep, so that we may have eternal life.

The English language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. The Spanish language service begins at 11 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study.

Heritage Baptist Church

In Nehemiah 10, people had ignored God’s word for 141 years. People had given up on Jerusalem that was once so impressive. It had been ransacked by pagans again and again. If we ignore God, we will miss out on His plans for us. Remember all the blessings God promised the children of Israel if they obeyed? They would have plenty to eat and they would be safe from invaders. If we ignore God, He will let us make our own plans. (This is dangerous!) Israel disobeyed God, and they ended up getting conquered by foreign kings and becoming slaves. Are you faithful to God’s Word? Are you growing in a Christlike character? The people decided to live strictly according to the Word of God. Nehemiah 10:39 says it all. “We will not neglect the house of our God”.  After 141 years of desolation in Jerusalem they stood up and became builders on the walls. They built each other up through unity of worship, submitting to the Word of God and keeping each other accountable in living out God’s Word.  God has a plan for your life, Will you respond?

Join us upstairs at the Presbyterian Church in Riberas del Pilar Sundays at 11:15 a.m. for prayer, then the Word at 11:45 a.m. Wednesdays: Bible study at 3 p.m. Info: 333-016-3743, This email address is being protected from spambots. Lake Chapala Baptist Church

Our Sunday, 7 January pulpit message entitled “Jesus: Our Example” from John 5:19-24 revealed three illustrations of Jesus as our Example. Verses 19-21 show Jesus as our example of submission to the will of the Father. Verses 22-23 confirm Jesus as our example of Christian character. Lastly, verse 24 demonstrates that Jesus is our example of love. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost while exemplifying His submission, His character and His love to mankind.

Abundant Life Church

What should our response be when God uses us? There is a tendency as humans to think that if we excel at something, even in Christianity, that it is because of how good we are. Pride often is a response to God´s call and His use of a person but in reality it should be the opposite. Come this Sunday, January 21, as we take a look at the high cost of pride and the blessing of walking in humility.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone.  Weekly Sunday worship services start at 10:30 a.m.

Services are on the Facebook page as well as the YouTube channel. The English services schedule is at abuntandtlifechapala.com. Bible study in English is held at 11 a.m. each Wednesday. Carretera 140, San Antonio Tlayacapan, just a block from SuperLake.
