Lakeside Presbyterian Church

Pastor Wayne, will talk this week about: “When a Dead Man speaks?”

This last week I watched a movie on Netflix entitled “90 Minutes in Heaven.” It was based on the experience of a Baptist minister named Don Piper who apparently died in a car accident. The police and the paramedics checked him out and declared him to be dead. He claims to have spent time in heaven for 90 minutes, but then suddenly he woke up. That is certainly an intriguing tale.

But there is an even greater life after death account found in John 11. A man named Lazarus was dead for four days and then Jesus brought him back to life. What a movie he could make!  And what powerful lessons we learn from the account.

The English language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. The Spanish language service begins at 11 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study.

If you need a ride, or more information, call 376-106-0853 before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

There is coffee and refreshments after the service in the Narthex.

Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar, just south of Mom’s Restaurant, toward the lake.

Heritage Baptist Church

Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone.

Our joy is not anchored to the ever-changing circumstances in life, but our joy is a product of being anchored to Christ. If joy in Christ was a disease, there would be nothing more contagious. Joyous people have no problem encouraging others and making lots of friends.

People filled with the joy of the Lord are always in demand. Joy does not come from our circumstances. Joy comes from walking with God. Joyful people are those who trust that God is directing their lives and that He’s in control. God has set His love on you. You are His. Yes, that’s what kind of God we serve. Your sadness is for a short time and your trials are sweetened with the knowledge of the Lord. How about you? Have you lost your joy? Why?

Join us at Heritage Baptist Church. Now meeting at La Estacion above Pancho’s Deli, 2nd floor, Hidalgo 75, Riberas del Pilar. Lake Chapala Baptist Church

Pastor John Speight’s sermon entitled “Three Decisions That Will Change Your Life” from Deut. 6:4-5 highlighted ‘Decision #1:  I choose to worship God in community with other believers.’ The intent of these two verses was to give a clear statement of the truth of monotheism, that there is only one God and Jesus describes them as the greatest of the commandments. These two verses tell us that there is a God and He is the source of all that exists and that God is worthy of all of our worship and all of our love. God reveals to us two truths. He is life itself and He is the source of all life.

Unitarian UniversalistFellowship

Sunday, February 4, at 12 p.m., noon, Rev. Matt Alspaugh will speak on “A Larger Love,” at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship the first service at their new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar (one block south of the previous address.

It’s a few days before Valentine’s Day, which for most of us folks from the north is a celebration of romantic love. Here in Mexico, Valentine’s Day is much broader, a celebration of familial love, and love for friends, a larger love. In this service, we will consider even these and larger circles of love. Could it be that love is part of being human, even, of being alive? Could a larger, even a universal love exist, a love that has emerged just as we have emerged and evolved from simpler beginnings?

D’Vorah Kelley will be the service associate.

The February 10 service will feature June Wilson speaking on “Happiness.”

Abundant Life Church

There is a growing problem world-wide with identity theft. Financial institutions, governments, schools and business have been affected by this widespread problem but in the end it is the individual who suffers most of all as they lose their name and future. Identity theft as we know it may be a new thing but the concept is very old. The devil wants to rob us of our identity as believers and places increased pressures on our lives to cave in and lose who we are by His grace. Come this Sunday, February 4, as we look at who we are in Christ and how to protect that identity in an identity theft-filled world.

Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Mexico and has services for everyone.  Weekly Sunday worship services start at 10:30 a.m.
