Exhibition celebrates 100th birthday of Lakeside artist

Turning 100 may be some people’s greatest life achievement, but when it comes to artist Lois Schroff, that milestone is but one of the numerous achievements she has accomplished, most of which were reached starting in her 40s.

pg15aTo mark this milestone, one of Lakeside’s most lauded professional artists will be feted on March 1, at cocktail reception followed by a reserved birthday celebration dinner launching her solo exhibition, “A Centennial Celebration for Watercolor Artist, Lois Schroff.” The festivities and exhibition will be held at the Casa Del Sol Inn for two weeks.

Schroff’s professional artistic achievements are formidable. She has received numerous prizes in art exhibitions, including placing First in Show and Best Watercolor in one juried exhibition that boasted 800 entries, and she received Best Watercolor in a show judged by notable painter Jack Perlmutter. She’s published two books on painting, “Color: Its Relationship to Soul and Spirit and “Physical and Spiritual Experiences of Color,” as well as a teaching DVD, “Spirit in Watercolor—Goethe’s Theory Applied.” Her published works extend to magazine and journal articles, where she is sometimes the author and sometimes the subject.
