2024 Amigo Cup: A swinging success for charity

The sun shone brightly as golfers teed off February 29 for the 2024 Amigo Cup at the Country Club de Chapala. This year’s tournament was another fantastic day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and all for a great cause: Kids and Their Future.

pg14aA big round of applause goes to the winning team of Bob Dunlavey, Caroline Armstrong, Frankie Olson and Mark Davis, who claimed the coveted Amigo Cup trophy and bragging rights for the year. Their impressive performance earned them four bottles of tequila donated by Mike and Pat Garvey.

Second place honors went to Bill Porteous, Ali Porteous, Mike Gonzales and Patti Gonzales, who walked away with four rounds of golf at Atlas Golf Club.  The team of Don Letourneau, Bev Letourneau, Thane MacWilliams and Karen Ramsey secured a well-deserved third place finish, also taking home four rounds of golf at Atlas Golf Club. Honorable mention must also go to the low gross winners, at 11 under par, Francisco Arrayga, Alfonso Hernandez, Ramiro Barajas and Pepe Rodriguez.

The putting contest champion, Ali Porteous, displayed exceptional skills among the 41 other golfers and was awarded an amazing gift basket from Pancho’s Deli Market.
