Lakeside Presbyterian

Dr. Cook’s Sermon Sunday, July 7 at 9:30 a.m. will be The Crisis of Gethsemane from John 18:1-14

We’ve all faced crises—a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger. My mother was 92 and seriously declining and I wanted to move her into my home; but she didn’t want to leave her friends. Next, she moved into assisted living which she also decided was wrong. Eventually she bought a house where we both stayed. Finally, mother was content and the crisis was over.

In John 18:1-14, we witness the greatest crisis of our Lord’s life. After the Last Supper, Jesus went to Gethsemane with his disciples. While there, he prayed in deep sorrow, asking the Father if there was another way. In his agony he shed drops of blood. Judas then appeared with Jesus’ captors. He was arrested; things proceeded quickly, and ended with his terrible death on the Cross. Today, we look at the crisis in Gethsemane.

Free Seminars on Dementia—Current data shows that 6.2 million Americans age 65 or older have been diagnosed with some form of dementia. E.
