Lakeside Presbyterian
Sermon title for Sunday, November 17, is “Studying God” from 2 Kings 22-23:25.
This week, Pastor Carolyn’s sermon will explore the theme of faithfulness and how we can cultivate it in our lives. Faithfulness is about putting our faith into action. For Christians, faith is believing in God, His Word, and all that He has accomplished. Living in alignment with this belief is what faithfulness is all about. Essentially, faith inspires faithfulness. But how do we deepen our faith? Pastor Carolyn will share insights on how the spiritual discipline of study, particularly Bible study, can help us grow in our faith in God, and in turn, strengthen our faithfulness to Him. Join us to learn more about this enriching journey!

Heritage Baptist Church
As far back as 60 A.D. when Hebrews was being written, the people faced what seemed an irreconcilable dichotomy between law and grace. Old Testament sacrifices were just pictures of the true sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If you had an option between pictures of a loved one in a photo album or their presence you would choose their actual presence. In the same way the Old Testament system could not give access into the presence of the living God but was like a photo album of types and shadows of the true sacrifice.
The Old Testament sacrifices could not take away sin. Nor were Old Testament sacrifices true grace, but only a form of grace, because these sacrifices needed to be repeated. The old sacrifices involved repetition, not remission. These sacrifices were mere reminders of man’s sinfulness because it was impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin.
But true Grace through Jesus Christ cancels sin forever. God sent His Son and prepared Him for this purpose. In His Son God finally found pleasure, because Jesus would fulfill all the laws’ demands.

Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.
The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.
But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?
Everyone has some experience with love—even a child who has a pet kitten or a dog. Soul is trying, to give back or respond to God’s love that’s coming through.
You are invited to meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Lake Chapala Society.
Lake Chapala Baptist
Why the resurrection? What gives a Christian hope and purpose? Jesus’ rising from the dead isn’t just an ancient story—it’s a promise that there’s more than what we see, more than the struggles and endings we face. It is an assurance that we too, can experience new life, forgiveness, and hope that doesn’t depend on our circumstances. This question goes beyond history to touch on the core of our relationship with God. If you’ve ever longed for connection, hope, or peace that lasts, the resurrection is God’s promise that these are possible. Jesus’ rising wasn’t just a miraculous event; it opened the way for the Spirit of God to dwell within us. This isn’t just belief—it’s fellowship with God Himself, the kind that transforms our hearts, gives us strength, and fills us with peace beyond understanding. In overcoming death, Jesus brought life. (Reflection from our congregation — thanks Angie!)
