Weekly Worship - December 21, 2024

Heritage Baptist Church

Across the planet, both believers and non-believers are familiar with the nativity story, its many memorable visuals and miraculous details. But there are some aspects of it that you may have missed.

Did you know, for example, that the very swaddling clothes that Mary wrapped the infant Jesus in were probably left behind in the manger by travelers who used them as burial cloths? Considering the ultimate mission of Christ, is this not of extreme significance?

And just who were those favored shepherds, the ones who saw and heard the angels of God? They were, more than likely, men specially trained to protect their sheep and keep them without blemish until they could be sacrificed at the temple in Jerusalem.

Another poignant analogy! Is not the Almighty most awesome?

Join us at the American Legion, Chapala. Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

Lake Chapala Baptist Church

Enjoy the reflections of church members here preparing us for Christmas: The second coming of Christ is the glorious culmination of God’s redemptive plan for creation, where Jesus will return in power to establish His eternal kingdom. Unlike His humble first arrival, His return will reveal Him as the sovereign King and righteous Judge. Scripture declares that Christ will come to make all things new, eradicating sin, death, and sorrow forever. This future event is a source of assurance for believers, grounded in God’s unchanging promises. It reminds us that salvation is entirely His work, from election to consummation, and that His purposes cannot fail. The second coming will bring the fullness of Christ’s victory over sin and the final gathering of His people. Until that day, God calls His people to live in faith, persevering with the knowledge that Christ will return at the appointed time.

Eckankar

Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.

The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.

But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?

Everyone has some experience with love—even a child who has a pet kitten or a dog. Soul is trying, to give back or respond to God’s love that’s coming through. (The above text is from Spiritual Wisdom on Relationships by Harold Klemp.)

You are invited to meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Lake Chapala Society.
