Weekly Worship - April 03, 2023

Lake Chapala Baptist Church

In the final judgment, God reveals himself as both the Merciful Redeemer and the Righteous Judge.

He demonstrates His perfect sovereignty over all creation while fulfilling His eternal purposes. The judgment of the living and the dead by Jesus reveals the fullness of God’s character, perfectly uniting both mercy and justice. As the righteous Judge, Jesus evaluates every life with absolute fairness, exposing all thoughts, words, and deeds. His judgment is not arbitrary but flows from holiness and sovereign will, holding humanity accountable for sin. Yet, God’s mercy shines in Jesus, who bore the penalty of sin on the cross. For those in Christ, judgment becomes a testament to His grace, as He declared them righteous and adopted children through His sacrifice. His mercy does not negate His justice; rather, it satisfies it, displaying God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. How does God see you; guilty, or, adopted in His mercy?

Lakeside Presbyterian Church

Sunday, January 5, the sermon title is “True Wisdom” from Daniel 2.

Where do we seek wisdom? Daniel was clearly a gifted man—described as “without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace.” That’s impressive. And when he was called upon to interpret the king’s dream, he did so. But Daniel is not impressed with himself. He gives full credit to God. In Pastor Carolyn’s sermon on January 5, she’ll show how we can have the same access to wisdom as Daniel.

Sunday English-speaking worship service begins at 10 a.m. and every Sunday morning the espresso drinks from our Café are free!

The English-speaking service also streams each Sunday at Facebook.com/LPCChapala.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Rev. Matt Alspaugh presents “Rewriting the Stories of our Lives” Sunday, January 5, noon at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

We all have stories about our lives. Some of these stories may be unconscious, they may be limiting, they may no longer be true, they may have never been true. Others may be invigorating, life affirming, hopeful, purposeful. But to make space for more stories like these, we may need to unearth and change or drop those limiting stories. We’ll explore how we might rewrite those stories. For this first Sunday of the year, we will have a boring bowl, in which we (ritually) let go of parts of our old stories that no longer serve us, so that we can begin to rewrite new stories.

Elly Cantreras is the service associate.

Sunday service is at  noon, at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar and online. See lakechapalauu.org for a Zoom link.

Eckankar

Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.

The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.

But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?

Everyone has some experience with love—even a child who has a pet kitten or a dog. Soul is trying, to give back or respond to God’s love that’s coming through. (The above text is from Spiritual Wisdom on Relationships by Harold Klemp.)

Meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Lake Chapala Society.

Heritage Baptist Church

What will you add to your faith next year, good Christian? Be diligent; God is at your side.

For believers, the important thing at year’s end is to plan for carrying out what we trust God wants us to do. Let our expectations be realistic and godly, according to what He has pressed on our hearts.

Scripture supports spiritual planning with a primary objective of bringing glory to God. His divine power moves in the Church to bring about godliness. As we receive this precious gift, unfolding little by little, we should consciously recognize what God has supplied in our lives. God showers an abundance of spiritual delights upon His children, and He calls us to excellence and effectiveness in realizing the fruits of the Holy Spirit’s work within us.

Think back. This year, have you grown closer to Christ, more godly, kinder…shinier? Recognize it as God’s hand and give Him praise! Then make a workable plan for your continued spiritual growth in the coming year. Join us at the American Legion, Chapala. Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Visit us at HBCmx .org or on Facebook under Heritage Baptist Chapala. Info: 331-437-7281 or 333-016-3743, HeritageBaptistChurchMexico @gmail.com.

These problems include war, plague, famine and all kinds of evil manifesting itself. Does this mean that Jesus´ coming means nothing? Come this Sunday, January 5, as we look at these truths in comparison with what Scripture teaches. You may be surprised to learn that this is what has happened in the Bible as well…Just before the blessings come!
