Audiences at the upcoming Movies & Icons performances will be transported into the world of 007 with the “For Your Eyes Only” number, brilliantly choreographed by Roy Haynes. Other acts will bring to life the scenes and sounds of 20 more cinematic blockbusters

This highly anticipated production has been in development for over six months, celebrating a love for the music of cinema and cherished cultural icons while showcasing the art of dance in a variety of genres.

The two-act program shines the limelight on 28 dancers hoofing it up in 22 polished numbers, created by experienced local choreographers Tanya Beede, Judi Edelen, Maritza Freyslinger, Guillermo Hernández, Alexis Hoff, Heather Hunter, Cortlandt Jones, Val Jones, Mary Neill and creative coordinator Roy Haynes. Haynes will be assisted by Robert Fineman, Debbie Lichtenberg, Iveagh Munro and Jennifer Piehl.

The audience will also enjoy special appearances by the renowned Hernández Corps de Ballet, live vocals by Brian Mathers and Laura Medina, and seamless transitions by Master of Ceremonies John Ward. The staging will be enhanced by visual projections, immersing the audience in scenes and sounds from iconic films.

“The use of dance in movies adds depth and emotion, helping filmmakers convey relationships and character development without words,” says Haynes. “Through carefully choreographed sequences, filmmakers can tell a compelling story.”
