‘Thriller Ajijic’ enchants huge audience

A motley crew of ghoulish performers took the stage at the Ajijic Malecón on Saturday, October 25, for the 15th anniversary local edition of Thrill the World.

The show opened with an amusing juggling act by Punta Cultural Ohana.

Next up, the Witches of Ajijic brought out their brooms for a well-rehearsed dance that got the party started, prompting dozens of spectators to follow them on the floor to kick up their heels.

The main act was a spooky zombie dance choreographed to the tune of Michael Jackson’s hit song “Thriller.”

A troupe of youngsters stepped to show off their show-stopping version of the famous rise-from-the-dead routine.

An audience of 218 paid for seating in the VIP tent, while around 200 more stood outside, watching from the sidelines along the boardwalk.

Proceeds from the event will go to American Legion Post 7 to support its work on charitable causes at Lakeside. According to preliminary figures reported by Thriller Zombie-in-Chief Donald Strordahl, nearly 85,000 pesos were raked in for the Legion kitty.
