Unity Ajijic was conceived in 2021 by Rev. Johannys Jiménez-Hartog and her husband, Jack Hartog.
One of Unity’s worldwide ministries, Unity Ajijic is the first and only Unity ministry currently operating in Mexico.
Unity was established in the early 1890s by Myrtle and Charles Fillmore with a mission to help people of all faiths apply positive spiritual principles to better their lives.
As of March 1, after five years of dedication and service to the Lakeside community, founders Johannys and Jack Hartog are passing the torch and welcome new Senior Minister, Reverend Penni Honey.

Reverend Penni was ordained in 2010 in New Thought and World Religions and ordained again by Unity in 2021. She has served at Unity of Phoenix, the Unity Center of San Diego, and most recently as the senior minister of Unity of Flagstaff, Arizona.
With a diverse background, ranging from large commercial construction management to children’s choirs, Rev. Penni is a Unity-trained chaplain, a trained facilitator of Byron Katie’s “The Work,” and a community service advocate.
Services will continue to be hosted at Namaste Village in central Ajijic, every Sunday at noon. Fr. James Twyman is the founder of Namaste Village and both an Anglican and Episcopal Franciscan priest who generously provides Unity Ajijic with this meeting place for weekly services and classes.
