Mama Cleo’s Boys

There are more than 30 boys living at Mama Cleo’s Boys Home. They hold car washes each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Little Chapel By The Lake parking lot to raise funds.

The boys were removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect and abandonment. They are currently without electricity and there is no water line to the home, so they must have a pipa deliver water each week and ration it. The septic system is not up to code and needs repairs. They are eating outside on a patio without a roof, using a BBQ and a hot plate to cook that requires them to eat in shifts. A kitchen and dining hall need to be built, as well as more bedrooms, bathrooms and a laundry facility. Stop by and meet the youngsters and get your car washed.

Horses and farms

The Trailblazers of Chapala Horse Riding Group hope you can join them this Saturday and every Saturday at Rancho la Libertad, from 9 a.m. to noon for their Hanging with Horses gatherings.

In addition to having some of the amazing horses that take them on rides every week and in the arena for you to love or ride on, they like to support local farmers and businesses that are the heart of the community.

One participating vendor is Happy Rabbit Farms at Rancho Loco Chapala, which provides duck eggs, rabbit meat, compost, and now a variety of pickles. You can preorder from them or they will have products at the ranch.

If you are interested in fresh goat and cow milk, free range eggs and grass fed meat, you may find it there. They are planning on providing classes on how to make cheese, fermenting, canning and ways to become self-sufficient.

The ranch is on Cordonices, below Chapala Haciendas 2—just follow that road until you see horses.
