The spiritual movement known as Religious Science was founded by Ernest Holmes (1887-1960), an American New Thought writer, teacher and leader. Religious Science is part of the greater New Thought movement and Science of Mind is its spiritual philosophy and also the name of Holmes’ book, written in 1926.

Special honoree this year at the convention is Lakeside resident Rev. Dr. Rebeka Pina. Pina is retiring after decades in the ministry and will be honored on Thursday, August 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. This session of the convention will be open to the public free of charge for any of Dr. Pina’s local friends and acquaintances to attend. It will also be simulcast live by New Thought Media Network.

Pina is the founder of the Convention of the Americas, having started it in Ajijic in 2012 initially as a retreat for her online students of Science of Mind. The convention was opened to the public as of 2014.
